Company Overview

Water Monitoring Solutions, Inc. (WMS) operates from three locations in Texas allowing for rapid response to climate and flow biased sampling conditions. We have offices in San Antonio, Austin and the Dallas metro area. All locations manage and support programs throughout the state providing logistics and technical support to public and private entities committed to the preservation of the state’s natural resources.

WMS is a proud member of the San Antonio River Basin Monitoring Network - a public/private partnership that operates continuous water quality monitoring stations in the San Antonio River Basin. The SARBMN received the Texas Environmental Excellence Award provided through the Office of the Governor.

On June 17, 2011, WMS's application for a Texas Parks and Wildlife Scientific Collection Permit was approved. Under this permit, WMS staff are authorized to collect fish (marine and freshwater); insects (aquatic and terrestrial); and invertebrates (excluding freshwater mussels). Listings include species listed by TPWD as threatened or endangered. Collection may be conducted via electroshock (backpack, tote barge, boat-mouted), seine, minnow traps, benthic kicknet, D-shaped dipnet, Surber sampler, and Ekman dredge. These provisions are easily amendable and extend throughout the state of Texas.

Key Staff Members

The key WMS staff has over 70 years of combined field experience and sample collection. Our seasoned staff is knowledgeable of all USEPA and TCEQ physicochemical, biological, andhydrological monitoring protocols. Our staff has extensive experience in the areas of advanced environmental impact assessment, biological assessments and contaminants investigations dealing with impacts to natural resources throughout the state. Past work experience includes areas of water quality related to human health, biological communities, habitat degradation, erosion, in-stream flows, and algal community behavior. Additionally, WMS staff has experience with storm water, industrial waste-water, hazardous and toxic solid waste, and drinking water monitoring, collection, and compliance. Members of WMS have served as advisors on numerous committees involved in water related issues in many of the basins throughout the State of Texas.
